africa from an insider
February 25, 2007blondes have more fun?
February 24, 2007Lisa wrote about Anna Nicole Smith and Brittany Spears..
poor anna, by the time they fiqure out what to do with her body there will be no body left.. what is the problem what difference does it really make where she is layed to rest.. would any one really go visit her.
brittany out of control and tired of the media following her around. who cares!
are these two really that important! I think the media has truley forgotten the boundries of peoples private lives. I am surprised we haven’t reported how may times they go to the bathroom. It is just nonense.
Less being reported on state of affairs for the united states, terrorism, war in iraq, dick chaney still vice president after the cia outting. do we really think reporting on the two people should take front page of the newspaper, tv and internet?
lessons of travel
February 23, 2007“Learning and understanding what goes on in other societies and cultures makes us all better people in the long run“ from alex’s blog. blogging it up. this exactly why i like to travel. for example: my son just got back from Isreal, what an impact on his view of the world.. He learned the history and saw how different it is to live in a small country fighting for existence. My nephew just joined the marines, i know thats crazy especially at war time. but in new york he was lost.. spoiled and did not appreciate any thing. Justin , my nephew has travelled to Japan, Phillipines, now Thailand. He describes his travels in his email and see how other people live. what a difference in their life compared to the united states. He does sound like he is maturing and understanding how his life in the US was not so bad.
copy of his email “Hey miriam…hows things? I am back on board as of yesterday…we were endured in missions in the phillipines. we encountered some terrorist threats…our location was an actual us combat zone…but all is well. we constructed a new school and renovated an elementry and high schoool for the citizens of general santos city. i met with the embassador…as well as a marine general and a navy admiral. the kids were great. they have so little yet they are so pleasent. the people are very accomidating, so much hospitality, it makes you realize what we take for granted in the us. it was very sad to see how the kids are forced to learn and see there living conditions first hand. i almost felt guilty for leaving but as marines we never stay in one place too long. we are now headed to singapore and once we arrive to the rear(japan) we will be deploying to iro jima following with indonesia and cambodia for several months soon afterwards. nothing else goin on trying to make the best of my travels. the kids in the phillipines made all the hard work worth it for sure. they were a blast ill never forget them. they are so bright, they have compassion for education. they appreciate things so much more than american children, they deserved our help. we thats all i got for now. i’ll check my e mail as frequent as possible so we can keep contact. tell jimmy i say hello i miss you both very much. dont worry about grandpas pics, whenever you get them too me will be fine.” -JUSTIN

babies
February 19, 2007the primer, the chapter about all the babies on the ship. reminded me of my phone call from my aunt after her trip to china. She left me a message, that i need to adopt a baby chinese girl. I was still young enough and i love children. This was the impact of going to visit some orphanges in china. you just saw one beautiful baby girl after the next. I was amazed that her message to me said nothing about the sites, food of china, the babies made the most impact on her trip. this is how i imagine dr X’s ship impact on the judge.
can’t escape the computer
February 18, 2007world wide web is everywhere www addresses are advertised on radio, books, TV. I even have a pad on my coffee table just so i can catch some of the e-mail addresses that interest me on TV commericals; contests, coupons, or maybe more about the products. I am howard stern fan, and yesterday he got engaged, first thing robin says “let me check wikipedia to see if the engagement is on there.” This was not more 2 minutes after he announced his engagement.. How does it get on the web so fast? Medicare’s new drug insurance program, to sign up and get more info on each plan you needed to go to the web. Now they pushing seniors on the web.
My bank, chase is having a contest, you are only eligible to win if you sign up for on-line paper statement.
Truly to part of main stream society you need to be computer savvy. there is no choice any more, thats the way it is!
father sarducci
February 11, 2007I just saw father sarducci live in port st. lucie florida. He was hilarious. one of my favorite characters when saturday night live was great… after i stopped laughing, both times, just as hard.. I enjoyed it on both sites. I did find it easier to watch on wiki, not as much going on. I found youtube with all it’s commerical options and links distracting. I was doing other things and listening to the video. It was the routine and words that made this video clip fun. You can do a lot more on youtube with its different connections, email address, who put the video on the web, adding your comments easily. Youtube is much more interactive with others who viewed this video. I did email my friends this clip from my wiki page. the picture on you tube was easily made larger and you felt you were watching the video on a tv screen, not just from an email.. Great clip, good to have teacher with a good sense of humor
first 60 pages
February 5, 2007my first impression science fiction novel? I do read many books but usually i stay away from science fiction.. i like to read biograhpies, murder mysteries and medical science books. But so far i really am enjoying this book.. Learning about a different societies, new nantechnology, the authors vision of the future. This further definitely is more violent, many more organizations to belong to. The organizations give you identity and protection. Stratifying society with the different characters. I really want to find out what happens next.
Like todays world; poverty, class systems, looking for a culture better than others, and Education are problems today and in the future.
